News Brief - 8/4/17
INDIANAPOLIS WGU Indiana is showing its support for the 2017 Indiana State Fair with sponsorship of new rides and attractions at the annual event. For the second consecutive year, WGU Indiana is title sponsor of the State Fair’s official mobile app and the university is sponsoring two of the Main Street Skyride cars and Parklets, both of which are new to the fair this year.
“We are thrilled to be sponsoring the new Skyride and Parklet attractions at this year's state fair. We are always looking for new ways to get involved with the community," said WGU Indiana Chancellor Allison Barber. “WGU Indiana is dedicated to helping Hoosiers adults fulfill their dream of completing a college degree. The State Fair allows us to interact with members of our community, hear their stories and give Hoosiers a chance to hear ours."
The Indiana State Fair app, sponsored by WGU Indiana, allows users to view listings of daily events and attractions and to share these events with friends through social media. App users are also able to utilize the interactive map, learn about the various exhibits and food vendors and even rate and share experiences about them.
New to the fair this year is the Skyride, which will give fairgoers an aerial tour of the grounds. WGU Indiana is sponsoring two of the Skyride cars, which will take riders 35 feet above the ground over Main Street.
WGU Indiana also is sponsoring the new Indiana State Fair Parklets. This latest fair attraction will include two recreational areas for visitors of all ages and include activities such as corn hole, ping-pong and a turf field for soccer. The two park environments are located near the Free Stage and on Main Street, west of the Grandstand.
WGU Indiana volunteers and staff will be on hand Aug. 4-20 with information about the university.
